Tinku Mandal, the main accused in the attack on a young woman in Chingrighata’s Shanti Nagar, was arrested from a hotel in Sealdah. Bidhannagar South police apprehended him late last night after receiving confidential information about his whereabouts. Mandal had been absconding since the incident, and police had conducted multiple raids across various locations, including liquor shops where he was previously employed.
According to police sources, Mandal had been staying in the Sealdah hotel under the false identity of ‘Pawan Paswan’ to evade arrest. Officials traced him following intensified search operations and detained him during a late-night raid. A thorough investigation is now underway to determine if he had any assistance while on the run. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage and hotel records to gather additional evidence related to his movements and possible connections.
The attack, in which the victim sustained severe injuries after being struck with a brick, had triggered a citywide search for Mandal. Law enforcement agencies continue to analyze forensic reports and witness statements as part of the legal proceedings. The victim is undergoing medical treatment, while officials proceed with further interrogation of the accused to establish the sequence of events leading up to the crime.
